Immediately after our historical victory, the continuous visits of the head of state Ilham Aliyev and the first lady Mehriban Aliyeva to these lands are valued as a historical event and indicate the full approach of the Great Return. Head of State Ilham Aliyev made this appeal in his address on the occasion of the World Azerbaijani Solidarity Day and New Year on December 31, 2022, that on August 26 – much earlier than the scheduled time, we liberated the city of Lachin and at the same time, the villages of Zabukh and Sus of the Lachin district. we also returned. This is a great achievement. Large-scale construction and restoration works are already underway in the city of Lachin: “I am sure that in 2023 we will return the people of Lachin to Lachin, the first former settlers will return to their native land.”
Last year’s goal was to complete the works carried out in the first restored Agali village within the framework of the “smart village” project and to return the residents to their homes. This goal was achieved at the right time and at a high level. The next goal related to the work done in our territories freed from occupation was to open the air gate of Eastern Zangezur to the world. Thus, Zangilan International Airport was built and put into use last year. As it can be seen, the restoration and construction works carried out at the expense of Azerbaijan’s internal capabilities are continuous, and the goals are being achieved at a high level. The goal of this year is the return of the people of Lachin to Lachin. The Azerbaijani people once again demonstrate to the world that they are the founding nation, the owner of these lands.” SIA reports that these views were expressed by Aliabbas Salahzade, a member of the Milli Majlis.
Aliabbas Salahzade noted that the head of state, Ilham Aliyev, while receiving Masim Mammadov in connection with the appointment of the President’s special representative in the Lachin district, which is included in the Eastern Zangezur economic district, spoke about the results of the new management method applied in our territories freed from occupation, and expressed such confidence that this it will greatly contribute to the comprehensive development of not only the liberated areas, but our country as a whole.
Saying that “improvement in the management system is the basis of sustainable development”, the MP added that it is enough to pay attention to the chronology of the works done in Lachin district from our historic Victory to the present day: “Works in Lachin city started after August 26 of last year. In September of last year, the visit of the head of state Ilham Aliyev to Lachin region was recorded in history with the raising of the Azerbaijani flag in the city of Lachin. It is also known that Lachin region was liberated from occupation by military and political means. According to the Statement dated November 10, 2020, which is the confirmation of Azerbaijan’s military and political victory and Armenia’s capitulation, Lachin district was evacuated on December 1. After that, the period of restoration and construction of the region began. The head of state Ilham Aliyev spoke extensively about the large-scale works done in a short period of time and said that in the first stage, about 500 private houses are being built in the city of Lachin or the houses destroyed by the Armenians are being restored. Eight multi-storey residential buildings are being reconstructed or completely overhauled, more than 30 public buildings are being built: “According to my instructions, we should finish all these works by the end of this year, this will be just the first stage. The number of these houses shows that thousands of people will already live in the city of Lachin by the end of this year, and the people of Lachin will return to their homeland this year.”
Aliabbas Salahzadeh emphasized that, as Mr. Ilham Aliyev noted, against the background of the works done in Lachin and the existence of the charming nature of Lachin, Lachin will not only become one of the most beautiful cities in the world in Azerbaijan, but at the same time, it will become a paradise: “In more than two years, this the restoration and construction works carried out on the lands are a presentation of the economic opportunities of Azerbaijan. All these works are carried out on the basis of the internal capabilities of our country. It should be noted that Azerbaijan opened the air gates of both Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur to the world in a short period of time. After Fuzuli and Zangilan International Airports, the next air gate of East Zangezur will be opened to the world at the end of 2024 and at the beginning of 2025. So, Lachin International Airport will be put into use at the specified time.”
“The head of state Ilham Aliyev drew attention to the tasks facing the special representative of the President appointed in Lachin district. Environmental protection is among the main goals. Mr. Ilham Aliyev said that there should be no occupation of lands, destruction of forest fund and other unpleasant situations, and noted that tolerance for these situations should be zero. We are sure that all former settlers who will return to their ancestral lands will live with this act. State authorities should help them. He should supervise so that everything is settled and regulated according to the law,” said the deputy.
