The Tunisian national team defeated its host, Libya, 1-0, in the fourth round of the Group Ten competitions in the 2023 African Nations Championship qualifiers.
Haitham Al-Juweni scored the winning goal for the “Carthage Eagles” team in the 16th minute.
With this victory, the Tunisian national team qualified for the finals of the tournament by being at the top of the group with 10 points in front of the Equatorial Guinea national team (9 points), the Libyan national team (3 points) and the Botswana national team (one point).
This qualification came without the Tunisian national team conceding any goal in return for scoring 8 goals.
This is the 21st time that Tunisia has qualified for the finals since the 1962 tournament, when it finished third.
The Tunisian national team is also considered the most team in Africa to qualify for the finals in consecutive years, 16 times since 1994.
The best result of the “Carthage Eagles” team was in 2004 when it hosted the championship and was crowned with the title.
