The Pekanbaru Health Office Boosts Health Promotion Efforts to Reduce Dengue Fever Cases.

PEKANBARU – The Pekanbaru City Health Office (Dinkes) is considered successful in improving the quality of service to the community. The result can be seen in the low number of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) from the beginning of the year to date.

“In terms of improving the quality of health services, especially handling DHF, the technical service has increased health promotion, eradicating mosquito nests, and fogging (fumigation). This is to reduce the mosquito population as a cause of DHF,” said Pekanbaru City Secretary (Sekdako) Indra Pomi Nasution, Tuesday (28/3).

Previously, the number of dengue cases reached 77 until the ninth week of this year. The highest dengue cases were in Marpoyan Damai and Payung Sekaki Districts.

“There have been 77 cases of DHF until the ninth week of this year. The most cases of DHF were in Marpoyan Damai and Payung Sekaki Districts with 13 cases each,” said Head of the Pekanbaru Health Office Doctor Zaini Rizaldy.

When compared between 2023 and 2022, the trend of cases is lower, for an average of half or 50 percent. For example, in the ninth week of 2022, there were 17 cases of dengue. Meanwhile, in the ninth week of 2023, there were only 7 cases.

Likewise the seventh week in 2022 there are 16 cases. But in the seventh week of 2023 there were only 9 cases.

“Until now, the 77 cases have started to heal and recover. No DHF patients have died,” said Doctor Bob, his nickname.

Last year, there were indeed DHF patients who died up to the ninth week. It is hoped that dengue cases can be suppressed this year.

“To minimize the spread of dengue outbreaks, I urge residents to always do 3 M Plus, namely draining, closing and burying used items that can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes that cause dengue fever. Plus use mosquito repellents to limit the breeding of mosquitoes that cause DHF,” he said. Doctor Bob.
