James McClean opens up about a previously unknown diagnosis.
It was daughter Willow-Ivy who made the footballer understand that he has autism.
“It’s been quite a journey”McClean signs on Instagram.
James McClean has run around on the left wing in the Premier League with both Sunderland and West Bromwich and has also had a long national team career.
The 33-year-old has played in two European Championship finals and made 98 international appearances for Ireland, but now he has also chosen to tell about something completely different.
James McClean har autism
In an honest post on Instagram writes James McClean that four-year-old daughter Willow-Ivy has autism and then goes on to tell about herself.
“I see as many small traits in her as I see in myself. So I decided to do an investigation”McClean writes and continues:
“It’s been quite a journey and now that I have a diagnosis I feel it’s time to share it with you.”
“Daddy’s Girl”
It was not obvious to tell about the diagnosis.
“I’ve been thinking for a while about whether I should share this publicly. I have done it for Willow-Ivy’s sake, to let her know that I understand that autism will not stop her from achieving her goals and dreams. Daddy’s Girl”, skriver James McClean.
McClean is currently playing for Wigan in the Championship and on Monday night he jumped into Ireland’s friendly against France.
