Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused the opposition parties of coming together on a “corrupt” stage after 14 parties’ move to go to the Supreme Court over the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from parliament alleging misuse of central agencies. Mr Gandhi’s two-year jail term from a Gujarat court in a criminal defamation case over Prime Minister Modi’s surname and his subsequent disqualification last week have drawn unprecedented support from the opposition. Such action against corruption and economic offenders is being taken for the first time in seven decades, said Narendra Modi. The said parties have frequently complained about Central investigative agencies’ action against their leaders.
