The work was rediscovered by accident. The family had invited art valuer Malo de Lussac of the Daguerre auction house in Paris to assess another work when he spotted their Brueghel. “I arrived in a small, dimly lit television room when I saw the work,” he told the AP news agency. “It was a real surprise, but also the biggest discovery of my career.”
