If hardcore shooter Escape from Tarkov isn’t hardcore enough for you, you can now install a mod that introduces a “detailed system of dismemberment” for single players. This includes severed and destroyed limbs as well as shattered skulls.
Guts are now flying in Tarkov: Allegedly to “reflect the reality of combat,” a modder recently released a hard-hitting gore mod for Escape from Tarkov. The alleged pacifist’s brutal code goes by the name of Visceral Dismemberment.
Among other things, the mod makes projectile hits shred limbs and sever heads. Furthermore, heavy explosions rip entire bodies apart. The bloody results can of course be viewed completely uncensored. Learn more about this visually stunning mod below.

Visceral Dismemberment for Tarkov: When bones burst
The modder’s peace mission behind Visceral Dismemberment, however, does not end with “taking the brutality of combat in Escape From Tarkov to a new level”. In order for “players to experience the consequences of their actions in the most gruesome way possible”, the 65 megabyte mod also contains additional visual effects and sound files.
Thanks to the latter, “players will hear the breaking of bones, the ripping of flesh, and the spurting of blood as they engage in intense firefights.” It also fits that the peace modder has adjusted body parts to react differently to different types of damage. For example, a high-calibre shot in the leg can severely sever it, while a shot in the hand can destroy an entire forearm.

- 1. Download the ZIP file.
- 2. Navigate to your SPT installation.
- 3. Open the BepInEx folder.
- 4. Switch to the Plugins folder there.
- 5. Extract the ZIP file into the plugin folder.
The original installation guide also includes a sixth step, telling you to enjoy the carnage. Logically, Visceral Dismemberments’ declared goal is to sensitize players to acts of war. With success: At the time of writing, more than 20 users have already commented on the mod download with laugh emotes, hearts and “thumbs up”.
