Both the royal couple and the crown prince couple go to the mountains during the Easter holidays.
– The royal couple will celebrate Easter at Prinsehytta in Sikkilsdalen, and the Crown Prince’s family will go to Uvdal, Guri Varpe, head of communications at the Palace, tells NTB.
Thus they follow familiar royal traditions.
Ever since 1924, the royal family has made a pilgrimage to the prince’s cottage, which is the family’s private property.
The cabin is located in Sikkilsdalen in Jotunheimen, a side valley to Gudbrandsdalen up from Vinstra. To get there, they usually take a train to Vinstra and a tracked vehicle on.
The royal couple have on a number of occasions pointed out what a gem Prinsehytta is, and that the traditions there mean a lot.
– Sikkilsdalen is very important to us. We will withdraw there, King Harald told the press during the state visit to Chile in 2019.
It wasn’t long until Easter then, and he and Queen Sonja were going to the cottage.
The Crown Prince couple will spend Easter at their cottage in Uvdal. They bought the cabin in Fjellsnaret in Nore og Uvdal in 2007.
