El Salvador’s Preparedness to Send a Mission to Haiti Amid Insecurity Concerns | Loop Haiti

The vice-president of El Salvador, Felix Ulloa, announces the upcoming opening of an office in Haiti whose mission would be to help the authorities fight against gang violence.

The Haiti file was on the menu of discussions at the 28th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government which took place in the Dominican Republic, from March 23 to 25, 2023.

El Salvador’s Vice President Felix Ulloa, one of the leaders who addressed the issue of Haiti and the raging insecurity there, informed that an agreement would have been reached between President Nayib Bukele and the Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

“The agreement has been reached to establish an office for El Salvador in the Republic of Haiti, because it is time to act, there have been many speeches, many resolutions on the Haitian case, but we must go to the ground and El Salvador is ready to send a mission immediately after the conclusion of diplomatic agreements with the sister Republic of Haiti”, declared Felix Ulloa quoted on DiaryLibre.

But no official communication has been made on this subject by the Haitian government.

On the other hand, Felix highlighted his country’s remarkable effort to combat gang violence that was causing many daily homicide cases in his country.

“We are currently the safest country in the western hemisphere,” he said, satisfied with the anti-gang campaign started months ago by the government of which he is a member.
