Within Less Than Three Months, Karangasem Records 175 Cases of DHF

Karangasem – Cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Karangasem Regency since the beginning of the year until now have reached 175. In the last two years, the January-March period is said to have always been higher than usual months due to unfriendly weather conditions.

Because of this, the Head of the Karangasem District Health Office, I Gusti Bagus Putra Pertama, said that the active role of the community is needed to prevent it so that dengue cases do not increase.

“To carry out prevention must be accompanied by an active role from the community. Not only from the Health Service,” said Pertama, Monday (27/3/2023).

One way to increase the active role of the community is to encourage each village to form a DHF working group. The aim is to educate the public to prevent it from eradicating mosquito nests.

“So that later we from the service will do fogging to kill adult mosquitoes, while the community will carry out mosquito nest eradication (PSN) to kill larvae,” said Pertama.

If this can be implemented properly by the community, he believes DHF cases in Karangasem Regency can be prevented or at least reduced.

In addition, it is hoped that in each resident’s house there will be one person who acts as a larva monitor (jumantik). This is so that if there are mosquito larvae, they can be eradicated immediately, so that they don’t grow into adult mosquitoes.

The first also said that until now there are still several patients who are still undergoing treatment, both in hospitals and health centers, which exist throughout Karangasem Regency.

Meanwhile, the age of patients suffering from DHF varies, ranging from children to adults.

“Most cases are still in Karangasem District because the city is quite densely populated and there are lots of standing water. This is where the active role of the community is needed to prevent it,” said Pertama.
