The UN Security Council did not support the Russian-Chinese resolution on the international investigation of the terrorist attacks on the Nord Stream.
The document did not get the required number of votes due to the position of the Western countries. A resolution for its adoption must gain nine out of 15 votes, while none of the permanent members of the Security Council should be against it.
The resolution was supported by Russia, China and Brazil. The UK, USA, France, Switzerland, Ecuador, Japan, Albania, Gabon, Ghana, Malta, Mozambique and the UAE abstained, no one voted against.
The Russian-Chinese resolution was co-sponsored by Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Nicaragua, Syria and Venezuela. These countries could not take part in the voting, as they are not members of the UN Security Council.
