Bee FC Rijnmond Grootscholten talks about Geertruida. He describes Feyenoord’s training product as ‘a great person’. “He was never the greatest talent, but that did not bother him. He did his own thing, which I also see as a quality.”

In Feyenoord’s youth, Geertruida stood out with his goals, while he also played as a defender. “In every youth match in which his team had problems, he stepped forward and scored two, sometimes three goals per game. At Feyenoord there were even doubts whether we should not just position him as an attacking midfielder. You can see that now: Geertruida is a multifunctional player.”

Geertruida never appears in front of the camera after Feyenoord matches because he stutters. However, Grootscholten sees that the Orange international is handling this well. “It does not bother him at all on the field. I think he has already come through that very well. He is full of self-confidence, something that many people who stutter have less.”
