General hospitals and unions have reached a negotiated outcome on the terms of employment of some 200,000 workers. After months of disagreement, negotiators reached an agreement in a meeting on Monday.
The action announced for April has therefore been canceled, the trade union FNV reports. The agreement in principle has yet to be presented to the rank and file of FNV and the other unions.
Hospital employees already ran a Sunday shift on a Thursday in March in protest. They had announced a new promotion for April, but it will not take place.
The unions conclude an agreement with the Dutch Association of Hospitals (NVZ). The collective labor agreement is concluded for two years. The parties have agreed, among other things, that the staff will receive a retroactive salary increase of 5 percent as of 1 February and a further 5 percent as of 1 December.
As of 1 June 2024, employees with the lowest wages will again benefit by 5 percent. People in the higher scales will then receive an additional 2 percent and 180 euros. Agreements have also been made about the workload.
