There are innumerable theories that point to the medicinal qualities of the music. From neuroscientific studies that point to the benefits that sounds bring to the brain and body – such as reducing stress and strengthen the immune system- to ancient postulates that appeal to sound healing therapies.
Since she can remember, the Puerto Rican actress and singer Jeimy Osorio knows that certain traditions around the world have used sound resources for therapeutic purposes. However, it was not until 2009, when she received what she describes as a “love slap”, that the 34-year-old Ponceña was able to confirm that sound can harmonize the physical body and thus combat specific ailments or provide specific benefits.
“Then I said ‘if I am learning this through some classes of yoga -I was certifying myself as a yoga teacher- and within that story I already had knowledge about what mantras were, but I had not practiced what it was like to sing a mantra, I had not necessarily had the opportunity to have a Tibetan bowl, pass it through my body and live the experience of sound therapy. When I discovered it and recognized, through this study, that the body is water and water is transformed by sound, I clicked”, comments the artist who is currently promoting her first production “22:22”, composed of 12 tracks that contain healing frequencies.
With the album on the market since December 22, Jeirmarie Osorio Rivera, the performer’s first name, affirms that this is the type of music that she wants to present until the last day of her career. Likewise, she was guided by the example of the late Cuban singer Celia Cruzwho had his first acting role in the movie “Fast Five” in 2011 along with Vin Diesel y Paul Walkerintends to contribute to the welfare of everyone who listens to it.
“In that case, I want to follow in Celia’s footsteps, because Celia, among those first things that she sang, went towards the spirit, and then she dedicated herself to singing salsarumba and the different genres in which he embarked. But for her, I feel that it was very important that the first thing that came out was towards the spirit in the form of gratitude for all the blessings that were to come to her. And I said ‘well, if this is the legacy that I want to follow, I also want to start with something that when I listen to it for 30 years I don’t get tired’ and, obviously, something that can help people to feel calm and peace”, points out who gave life to “Tania Taylor” in the soap opera Telemundo “A maid in Manhattan”.
In 2020, like everyone else, Osorio Rivera was forced to remain locked up to prevent the spread of the virus. COVID-19. Without a stereo, backup singers, or anything to do, the also member of productions such as “Because love rules” and “Santa diabla” decided to record herself while she sang some melodies that were born in transcendental moments of her life.
“From the first song everything is completely intentional. We undergo many changes in life and those changes definitely shake the ground for us, and sometimes they make us fall and collapse. So, I wanted to simulate from the collapse, from being in the center of the earth, like a volcano, to include the sounds, because sounds sometimes help us transport ourselves and sometimes we are listening to music, and we are doing many things, but for now we hear little details that we had not heard before. So I wanted to create material that was complex enough so that when you listen to the song over and over and over again, you come across different elements.” says about what characterizes “22:22″.
The actress, who obtained her first leading role in 2015 when she played “La Guarachera de Cuba” in her young stage, in the telenovela “Celia”, added that each theme of the musical project also represents an element of nature: earth, water, fire or air. In the same way, it includes sounds of animals, nature and frequencies.
“These frequencies are at a very low level, so that you don’t get very clear in the middle of what you are listening to. But yes, each theme has a specific frequency on the Fa scale for each energy center. So you, without realizing it, can be listening to the song and, at the same time, that sound that goes through, transforms the water that is in your body and, therefore, your health”, assures with satisfaction.
Along these lines, on March 11, Osorio Rivera -together with three showgirls- presented his album to family, friends and various figures of the local artistic class at the Cortés Foundation. The experience, called “Multi Sensory”, produced an inexplicable mix of sensations among those present.
“It is something so different and so different, because it is not that you are going to sit down to watch a show, it is that, if you close your eyes you will feel the sound, but when you open them you find a theatrical presentation of what that represents each theme in me. So, while you have your eyes open, I am interpreting the song according to what I am living or what I lived at the moment I wrote it. At the same time that we are traveling through space and the sound is traveling in different directions”, described the artist.
The theater actress, who has participated in productions such as “Hairspray” and “High School Musical on Stage!” she wants the public to witness and experience each of her expressions. This past weekend he offered several “Multi Sensorial” sessions.
Meanwhile, on March 31, there will be the official presentation of the album “22:22 remixes” with a live band at the headquarters of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culturein San Juan from 6:00 pm
