from the dream. Lukas Tulovic’s debut in the Liqui-Moly-Moto2-Team is canceled for the time being. His injury proved to be serious and the German was unable to replicate his performance.
Lukas Tulovic (22) had to hoist the white flag for the third Moto2 training session on Saturday. Both with and without painkillers, the tall Eberbacher (185 cm) was too handicapped by the injury sustained during the last test drive in Portimão to be able to come up with reasonable times. Tulovic was quite competitive in the first days of testing in Jerez and raised hopes that he could keep up in the top ten in the coming Moto2 season.
Tulovic is now fatal for the second time with a serious injury in his right wrist. Already in 2020, as a regular rider of Hervé Poncharal’s Moto-E team, he suffered a serious injury to his right wrist in the Emilia Romagna GP in Misano, which put him out of action for a long time. However, the 22-time Moto2 GP participant never let such setbacks bring him into a decisive reserve. The reward for winning the Moto2 European Championship was a fixed starting place in the renowned Liqui-Moly Intact Husqvarna Moto2 team for this season. Tulovic’s resignation from the start in Portimão is all the more annoying.
“We had the injury extensively examined again in the hospital in Faro. We really wanted clarity at last. It has been shown that if we keep pushing, we risk the injury getting worse. Absolute calm is the order of the day. We have to cancel the Argentine GP, then we have the chance to be back at the start in Austin,” summarizes Tulovic, who in 2018 from Jerez for the first time for the then injured Dominique Aegerter in the Moto2 World Championship in the colors of Kiefer Racing was allowed to debut in the Moto2 World Championship.
So now patience is called for again until Lukas Tulovic (22) can get off to a successful start to the season in his new team.
