A Cuban mother remains helpless, with her sick son, in a house in deplorable conditions and without work.
The Antilles María Caridad Rodríguez Vera, recounted in a video published by the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights, that since her son was born 40 years ago, she had to stop working to care for him because he has a congenital malformation in his right kidney, that three days after he was born his right kidney was removed and from then on he became deaf and dumb.
“The doctors recommended that I give him cold water, a lot of cold liquid. That I have not been able to give him because since I cannot work to see how I save to buy him a cold one. My son has not been able to drink cold water because no one has paid attention to him. He doesn’t have the resources that he really needs,” said the Cuban mother.
The Antillean woman from Songo-La Maya, in Santiago de Cuba, commented that four years ago she asked the regime for help, a year later they visited her and she is still waiting for the actions.
“Look at the situation I have with the house. This little house is practically useless because I invented it as best I could with bits of zinc that I found out there and mambú”.
“In 2019 I raised the situation I have with housing and in February 2020 the president of the government of the Songo-La Maya municipality was here. So the president agreed that they were going to build me a house to improve the situation we had and I’m still waiting,” said the Cuban mother.
The case of this Cuban mother with her sick son joins the long list of West Indians who continue to wait for the communist dictatorship to offer them help in the face of the miserable situation in which they live.
