“National Assembly Commences: Intriguing Hypothesis by Hristo Ivanov”

The co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria” Hristo Ivanov presented a curious hypothesis immediately after the elections. Namely, that the 49th National Assembly should begin by forming a constitutional majority even before finding support for a government.

“It may be logical that the construction of any parliamentary configuration to support a government begins with the construction of a constitutional majority, which is much broader and is the great factor in bridging divisions. Because if we can remove the divisions before brackets and tell the people early enough in the life of the next National Assembly – here we are ready to move this stone – the constitutional changes, this will give enough reasons for people to accept after all that we will have to and on other topics to have interactions. However, I’m talking about topics related to major national priorities, I’m not talking about consuming power piece by piece,” said Ivanov.

As prerequisites for forming a constitutional majority, Ivanov pointed out that even GERB and DPS are already giving signals that they no longer want to openly oppose the reformation of the prosecutor’s office. And he reminded that the DPS already announced their own project for constitutional change, and in the project for constitutional changes of GERB announced nearly 3 years ago, it even provided for the division of the Supreme Judicial Council into two.

He pointed out that without a radical reform of the prosecutor’s office, no other changes can really start in our country, nor can Bulgaria clean up its image as a country that has become a byword for corruption.

As the key prerequisite for the state’s shaky finances, he pointed to the lack of a stable government that would take responsibility for tightening the financial framework. “A government that takes responsibility will be better able to collect revenue. This government will optimize public spending. Many players on the field from the private and gray sector will start to burn their wits,” said Ivanov.
