The American artist enjoyed great success in Norway, and married Kine Hoel Nymo. Then it unraveled, with divorce, depression and heavy drug addiction.
In an interview with Dagbladet, the American artist Luke Elliot (38) opens up about his divorce from Norwegian Kine Hoel Nymo, daughter of the allemannsiet Jørn Hoel (65), and the difficult time that followed.
Elliot came to Norway eight years ago, after meeting the Norwegian journalist Eirik Mosveen (55), who was then VG’s correspondent in the USA. With Mosveen’s help, he got a six-day tour booked in Norway, and played to full houses, writes Dagbladet Pluss. He has since been praised by critics, both in Norway and elsewhere in Europe.
The American quickly made friends in the Norwegian music community, and among other things went on tour with Sivert Høyem in 2016. He wrote “Spring for life” with OnklP and Ingebjørg Bratland, and played at Lindmo on NRK1, and had roles in Thomas Giertsen’s “Helt Perfect’ and season two of ‘Exit’.
– China could not live with all the disappointments
Luke Elliot played himself in the second season of “Exit”, which was broadcast on NRK in 2021.

In 2018, he got married and the following year had a child with the daughter of one of Norway’s most popular artists, Jørn Hoel.
In 2022, Elliot and Kine Hoel Nymo divorced.
It was a violent downturn.
– Part of me thinks it is important to tell everything, and not embellish the truth. I don’t want one drink, I want the whole bar, says Elliot (38) to Dagbladet.
He talks about depression and drugs. He has cut out the drugs, but the alcohol remains. Now he wants to regain control over his own life.
– I was way too much. Kine could not live with all the disappointments I caused her, he says.
The brother died
Norwegian friend Luke Elliot is soon ready with a new album. He has previously released the EP “Provisions” (2014) and the critically acclaimed albums “Dressed for the Occasion” (2016) and “The Big Wind” (2020).

Elliot explains much of the drug problems, which started in his teens, with experiences of being outside as a child, but is clear that there is no excuse.
His nine-year-older brother died of an overdose eleven years ago.
Now Luke Elliot is on the way with a new album, and is looking forward to the reception. And to get life back on track.
Kine Hoel Nymo is familiar with the content of Dagbladet’s case, but has informed the newspaper that she does not wish to comment on the article.
