Hospital staff goes on a warning strike

Employees of the Saarburg Hospital will go on strike starting with the early shift today. The background is the collective bargaining dispute in the public sector. The trade union ver.di has called for a strike.

According to the hospital, the care of patients and emergencies is secured despite the strike. Operations that can be planned – unless urgently required – would be postponed. According to the union ver.di, the strike should begin with the early shift and end with the late shift.

The Saarburg Hospital is the only hospital in the region that is under municipal sponsorship. It belongs to the district of Trier Saarburg.

Ver.di demands 10.5 percent more money

In collective bargaining for federal and local employees, the unions are demanding 10.5 percent more money, but at least 500 euros for a period of twelve months.
