Qin Gang meets with Foreign Minister of Equatorial Guinea Simeón Oyono Esono

On March 23, 2023, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with Foreign Minister of Equatorial Guinea Simeón Oyono Esono in Beijing.
Qin Gang said Minister Simeón Oyono Esono was the first African foreign minister to officially visit China since the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). This fully demonstrates the great importance that China attaches to China-Equatorial Guinea relations and the deep and unshakeable friendship between the two countries. We are grateful to Equatorial Guinea for adhering to its principles by supporting China’s legitimate claims on issues related to its core interests and major concerns. We will continue to support Equatorial Guinea in its independent exploration of a path of development consistent with its national conditions, in its preservation of national sovereignty and in its opposition to the interference of external forces in its internal affairs. We are ready to work together to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, maintain high-level contacts, strengthen pragmatic cooperation, deepen cultural exchanges, consolidate the foundations of public opinion between the two countries and promote bilateral relations to a new level.
Qin Gang said that the triumphant conclusion of China’s “Two Sessions” and the re-election of President Xi Jinping by another unanimous vote are of great significance. China will maintain a high degree of continuity in its domestic and foreign policies, injecting certainty, stability and positive energy into a changing world. The Chinese economy is resilient and dynamic. It will register stronger growth this year and continue to make an important contribution to the global recovery. The comprehensive promotion of modernization with Chinese characteristics, adherence to high-quality development and the expansion of high-level openness will bring new development opportunities to Equatorial Guinea. We are ready to strengthen the alignment of development strategies between the two parties, to deepen the exchange of experiences in governance and to help Equatorial Guinea to strengthen its capacity for independent development. We encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Equatorial Guinea and hope that more Equatorial Guinea special products will enter the Chinese market.
Simeón Oyono Esono said that China is a true friend, dear brother and good partner of Equatorial Guinea and Africa. He sincerely thanks China for its valuable support for Equatorial Guinea’s diverse development and the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, and nothing can stop Equatorial Guinea from deepening friendship and cooperation with China. Equatorial Guinea firmly adheres to the one-China principle and opposes any interference in China’s internal affairs under the guise of human rights. Equatorial Guinea shares the same values with China, namely sovereign equality, independence and the peaceful resolution of international disputes. China’s success brings hope to developing countries. Equatorial Guinea appreciates and strongly supports the major initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping to promote peace, security and development in the world, and supports the document “China’s position on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis”. .
Qin Gang stressed that China has always advocated mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, as well as win-win cooperation. We will continue to actively implement the outcomes of the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), accelerate the implementation of the nine projects, deeply release the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative , the Global Development Initiative, the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the development strategies of African countries, will support Africa’s economic recovery and sustainable development, and promote building a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
