Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and current Senator Christopher Lawrence Go have been declared as “adopted sons” of Cagayan de Oro City by the local government. The accolade, announced in the form of a plaque, was issued in recognition of their contributions to the country and specifically to Cagayan de Oro. Go was commended for his support of government programs whilst Duterte was recognised for his work on infrastructure projects and his campaign against illegal drugs. This is not the first time Duterte has received such an award, he was also declared “adopted son” of Pampanga province earlier this year.
