Can you identify the sitcom celebrity who is barely recognizable?

Have you ever watched a sitcom and thought to yourself, “I wonder what that actor looks like in real life?” Well, prepare to be shocked because one sitcom star looks completely unrecognizable these days. Gone are the iconic hairstyle and signature features that made them famous. In fact, you might need a few hints before you can guess who it is. Are you up for the challenge? Let’s take a look at this transformation and see if you can identify the face behind the stunning change.

Hannah Hobley-Smith, the actress who played teen mum Chantelle ‘Telle’ Garvey in the ITV sitcom Benidorm, has undergone a glamorous transformation since her time on the show. The comedy followed the antics of families holidaying at the Solana Resort, and Hobley-Smith appeared in the very first episode back in 2007. She was part of the show’s most famous family, the Garveys, alongside Steve Pemberton as Dad Mick and Siobhan Finneran as his wife Janice.

Hobley-Smith’s character’s pregnancy was discovered during the first season, ahead of giving birth to son Coolio. She left the show after the third season, and has since continued acting, sharing snaps from her theatre roles with her followers on social media. According to IMDB, she has also appeared in BBC’s Cranford as the character Bertha.

In addition to her acting career, Hobley-Smith now shares snaps of her glamorous lifestyle and life as a mother of baby daughter Beatrice on social media. Last year, she even recreated her famous character’s look when she was pregnant, before welcoming her daughter with partner Nathan Smith. The couple wed last month, with Hobley-Smith jokingly stating, “Getting married 14 weeks after giving birth… Because why shouldn’t you fulfill life’s two biggest achievements within the space of a year?!”

Though there were rumours of a possible comeback for Benidorm, Siobhan Finneran, who played Janice Garvey, has denied them. She says that while cast and creatives met at a comedy convention for the show last year and rumours grew out of that, “You should probably never say never to anything so popular but as far as I know it won’t be coming back at any point.”

Creator Derren Litten had previously teased an 11th series of the long-running comedy in 2018, despite claiming that the show would end after its 10th season. The show’s original stars attended a convention hosted by Litten in November last year, leading to speculation about a possible return. While the Garvey family left the show in series seven, actors Siobhan Finneran, Steve Pemberton, Oliver Stokes and Sheila Reid were at the convention. Playing his character Mick at the live event, Pemberton asked Finneran as Janice, “Now that we’ve sold that b****y hotel in Las Vegas, could this be our new big adventure?” Litten then asked, “Have you just announced season 11 of Benidorm? Who on earth would watch it?” However, he added, “In the worlds of Madge Garvey in series seven, episode two, ‘Never say never. Never say never.'”

Throughout her time on Benidorm, Hobley-Smith was known for her character’s drab tracksuits and minimal makeup. However, her post-show transformation has left her almost unrecognizable. The actress continues to pursue her career in acting, while sharing glimpses of her personal life on social media. Though Benidorm may not be returning to our screens, the show’s popularity and cast of beloved characters will be fondly remembered by many.
