Mahfud Gets Criticized by KPK Leadership Over Information on Rp 349 Trillion Transaction at the Ministry of Finance

Jakarta

The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md is one of the officials who often talks about the issue of Rp. 349 trillion in odd transactions at the Ministry of Finance (Ministry of Finance). Mahfud’s comments often raise pros and cons in the public.

Vice Chairman KPK Nawawi Pomolango spoke about Mahfud’s comments regarding the strange transactions of hundreds of billions involving the Ministry of Finance. Nawawi advised Mahfud to be more helpful in pushing for the passage of the Asset Confiscation Bill.

“As the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Prof Mahfud It is more appropriate if you actively voice/support the enactment of the Asset Confiscation Bill to become law,” said Nawawi to detikcom, Saturday (25/3/2023).

According to Nawawi, Mahfud’s support in creating regulations to strengthen efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia is more needed at this time. That, said Nawawi, is more important than providing incomplete information to the public.

“Encouraging the improvement of the Corruption Law, such as the possibility of including the Illicit Enrichment provision as a corruption offense, as well as other provisions such as trading in influence. Instead of just being a spokesperson conveying the partial information he obtained,” said Nawawi.

Mahfud is Ready to be Examined by the DPR regarding Awkward Transactions at the Ministry of Finance

The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md previously admitted that he was ready to attend a public hearing (RDPU) with Commission III of the Indonesian Parliament to discuss the issue of the Rp 349 trillion odd transaction involving the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday (29/3). Mahfud also responded casually to the plan of the Coordinator of the Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman to report the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to Bareskrim Polri.

“Yes, it’s okay (MAKI wants to report PPATK to Bareskrim Polri), later on Wednesday I will be invited there (DPR),” Mahfud Md told reporters at the Royal Kuningan Hotel, South Jakarta, Saturday (25/3/2023) .
Mahfud hopes that the party who has spoken out loud regarding the excitement of the Rp 349 trillion odd transaction will also attend the meeting. According to him, the meeting will be a touchstone.

“Logic test and equality test too, don’t say that the government is subordinate to the DPR, right,” said Mahfud.

“Anyway, I came on Wednesday, yesterday the one who spoke a bit loudly asked me to come too, so that it would be a draw,” he added.

Previously, PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana emphasized in his analysis report that more than Rp. 300 trillion or Rp. 349 trillion was a crime of money laundering or TPPU. The analysis data is submitted to the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu).

In a hearing (RDP) with Commission III of the DPR, Tuesday (21/3/2023), the legislator from the Gerindra Party faction, Desmond J Mahesa, immediately targeted Ivan over the Rp. 300 trillion that has recently been a stir. What did he say?

“Is the TPPU exposed or not? The IDR 300 (trillion) is TPPU?” asked Desmond.

“AML, money laundering. Those are the results of the analysis and examination results, of course the ML. If there is no ML, we will not convey them,” said Ivan.

“So there was a crime in the Ministry of Finance (Ministry of Finance) like that?” asked Desmond again.

“No, in the position of the Ministry of Finance as predicate crime investigator in accordance with Article 74 of Law Number 8/2010 it states that predicate crime investigators are ML investigators, and in the explanation it says that Customs and Excise and the Directorate General are predicate crime investigators. ,” Ivan answered.
