Francis Bagnaia successfully won his debut Sprint Race in MotoGP Portugal 2023 after conquering Jorge Martin at the Algarve Circuit, Saturday (25/3).

Martin actually had the lead in the leading position for quite a long time. However, Bagnaia was able to overtake him at the last minute.

Bagnaia managed to become the fastest with a record time of 19 minutes 52.862 seconds. The Ducati racer was 0.307 seconds ahead of Jorge Martin who was behind him.

While Marc Marquez, who started the race in pole position, was only able to finish third. This result is quite good considering he was scattered.

The MotoGP Sprint Race was held for the first time in MotoGP 2023. This race is one of Dorna Sports’ efforts to boost the popularity of MotoGP, which has declined dramatically in recent years.

Dorna Sports’ decision to hold a Sprint Race changed the race format in MotoGP this season. There are only three free practice sessions (FP) on the race weekend.

Furthermore, the 2023 Portugal MotoGP race will take place on Sunday (26/3). The race will be broadcast live on Trans7.
