They noted that on March 20, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Sergey Kiriyenko, collaborator Vladimir Saldo and an unknown person in the role of “director”, who was appointed by the so-called “authorities of the region”, arrived at the reserve.
“Thus, the further preservation of the environmental, research institution of international importance – the Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve – cannot be ensured by the Ukrainian administration and is under direct threat,” the report says.
The press service added that while the staff continues to perform their duties and provide the necessary care for the collections.
At the same time, it is noted that despite the occupation of the territory, the lack of current expenses and disrupted transport logistics, the institution functioned in the Ukrainian format. Employees carried out the prescribed scope of work.
