“Since the start of a more severe punishment for traffic violations in the republic, 423 drunk drivers have been identified,” the department said. – For the same period last year – more than 800 violators. If earlier drivers could get off with a fine of 17.5 thousand soms for drunk driving, under the new rules they are deprived of a driver’s license for up to one year. In case of repeated violation of traffic rules – for three years. At the same time, the vehicle belonging to the violator is temporarily seized.

Recall that the country’s authorities have toughened the punishment for drivers who decide to drive a car while drunk from March 8 this year.

A violator without a license faces arrest for three days (previously – a fine of 15,000 soms), in case of refusal to undergo a drug test – arrest for the same period of three days with a driver’s license, without it – up to five days of imprisonment. In case of getting into an accident in an alcoholic state – arrest for up to seven days, with deprivation of the right to drive for up to a year (previously – a fine of 20,000 soms). For repeated violation – temporary seizure of the car and deprivation of rights for up to three years.
