In the mid-90s, the series “Commissioner Rex” actually “thundered” all over the world. Spectators with bated breath followed the incredible adventures of the Austrian police, who were helped by their faithful dog.
Many Russians still remember that dramatic plot twist, when a new owner, Alexander Brandtner, came to replace the deceased Moser. His role was played by German actor Gedeon Burkhard. Before him was an impossible mission – to replace Tobias Moretti, adored by the audience. The matter was further complicated by the fact that Gideon had a scandalous reputation. But Burkhard coped with the task and won the love of not only Rex, but also the fans of the picture.
Gideon starred in the series for several years and achieved great popularity, but in 2001 he suddenly left the project. The reason for this was a serious conflict between the actor and producer Peter Hayek. The creators decided not to renew the contract with Burkhard, thereby showing him the door. A loud scandal was provoked by Gideon himself, who began to rebel on the set. He was fed up with the fact that his character is always the same and boring. The producers did not tolerate such behavior and hurried to get rid of the actor.
Today, in the 53-year-old Burkhard, one cannot recognize that stately and sexy handsome man. He turned gray, haggard and lost his gloss and charm. From his stunning appearance and from his former glory, only memories remained.
