Moscow has said such agreements are prohibited without its consent.
“The transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets by Slovakia to Ukraine is an ‘unfriendly step’ towards Russia and a violation of international obligations,” the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said.
According to the department, the agreement concluded between Slovakia and Russia in 1997 forbids either side, without the consent of the other side, “to transfer to third countries weapons and military equipment obtained or acquired as a result of bilateral military-technical cooperation.”
“We count these actions of Slovakia as an unfriendly act against the Russian Federation, aimed at destroying bilateral relations,” the FSMTC said.
Recall that on March 23, Slovakia delivered the first four MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
