Russian Daria Kasatkina failed to make it to the third round at a tournament in Miami (Florida, USA) with a prize fund of $8.8 million.

Kasatkina received the eighth seed at the tournament and started her performance from the second round, where she lost to the Belgian Eliza Mertens with a score of 6:4, 2:6, 2:6.

The rivals spent two hours on the court. Mertens made three aces (Kasatkina – none) and converted six out of eight break points (the Russian woman – three out of seven).

Medvedev called his relationship with the court in Indian Wells toxic

Nine more Russian tennis players will play their second round matches in Miami later.

At the previous tournament in American Indian Wells, also in the WTA-1000 category, Kasatkina won only one match.

The winner of the Miami tournament will receive 1,000 ranking points and more than $1.2 million in prize money.
