The incident took place on the Gheorghe Ionescu-Sisești Road, and the child was transported to the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital.

According to the Capital Police, police officers from the 5th Precinct were notified that a child was allegedly attacked by a dog while walking on the street, accompanied by another person. A medical team went to the scene.

“Verifications are being continued in order to establish the conditions under which the event took place”, the Capital Police also states in a press release.

Judicial sources told HotNews.ro that the victim is a 9-year-old boy, who was on the street with his nanny. They were both attacked by a German Shepherd dog that got out of a yard after the owners left the gate ajar. The child was bitten on the back of the head and on the hand, and the woman was also bitten on the hand.

We remind you that on January 21, 43-year-old Ana Oroș died after being attacked by a pack of dogs while running in the Lacul Morii area of Bucharest. In April last year, she was hospitalized in serious condition after being attacked by dogs in the same area.

After the tragedy, the authorities responsible for solving the problem of stray dogs – ASPA and the City Hall of Sector 6, which reports to the Local Police – neglected their responsibility.

The mayor of the capital, Nicușor Dan, said on March 11 that a big problem is that of dogs with owners who let them loose.

He stated that “there are two big problems and the solutions to these two big problems are to tighten the penalties for owners who let dogs off their property”. “That’s what we will do, joint teams between those who sterilize and those who fine”, explained Nicusor Dan. The mayor stated that the problem of stray dogs is not one of the problems reported to the call center.

“We have a call center and we have statistics on everything that means problems that people have. It is not among the first problems that people notice (…) The problem exists in the periphery, where there is the idea that you can, if you no longer need some chickens, let them out into the street”, said Nicuşor Dan.
