Actor from Star Wars franchise hated by fans for years, finally gets a shot at redemption

Because of his annoying nature and recognizable racist clichés, the Gungan quickly pulled the Hated by “Star Wars” fans on yourself. In response, after his debut in Episode I, Jar Jar Banks was barely featured in the following two films. The consequences for actor Ahmed Best, on the other hand, were much worse. He suffered so much from the rejection, hostility and bullying of “Star Wars” fans that he even thought of suicide.

One should be all the happier for him now that his appearance in “The Mandalorian” somehow rehabilitated. In any case, Best himself seems to be very happy. So he writes under a picture on his Instagram channel (see below): “Gratitude! Good to be back. There is so much to say and share. It will take a few days. But at the moment I would like to thank you Thank you to everyone who caught me and made me better.” His followers are also happy for him in the comments under his post. It is very likely that this will not have been Best’s only appearance as Kelleran Beq. Should the story continue to be told in the upcoming “The Mandalorian” episodes, Best as Kelleran Beq should probably stay with us for a while.

Ahmed Best has previously appeared in a different role in Star Wars. He is briefly seen as Achk Med-Beq in the background during the bar scene in Episode II. The role of Kelleran Beq isn’t new in itself either. Best played the Jedi on the Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge game show.
