The new head of the Ministry of Strategic Industries should restart the work of the department and transform its work in accordance with the needs of the warring country. This was stated by the First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliya Svyridenko during the presentation of the newly appointed Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin to the staff of the Ministry, the Government Portal reports.
“We are confident that we will win this war. And now a new window of opportunity is opening before us. We have to develop the domestic Military Tech sector. After all, Ukraine cannot rely exclusively on the weapons of allies all the time. The domestic sector of the defense industry is a priority for the President and the Government, both now and after the end of the war. After all, in current wars, the one who has more modern weapons wins.
Oleksandr Kamyshin showed remarkable leadership qualities while leading Ukrzaliznytsia, now he faces a new challenge – to change the approaches to the work of the Ministry of Strategic Industries and to do everything possible to provide the army with Ukrainian-made weapons in the shortest possible time,” said Yuliya Svyridenko.
Yulia Svyridenko also thanked Pavel Ryabikin, who headed the Ministry before that, for his work.
One of the first tasks for the new head of the Ministry of Strategic Industries will be the reform of Ukroboronprom, which involves the reorganization of the state concern into a joint-stock company. The goal of the reform is the creation of the joint-stock company “Ukrainian Defense Industry”, 100 percent of whose shares will belong to the state, as well as the approval of the charter of the joint-stock company and the Regulation on the supervisory board of the joint-stock company.
The creation of the legal successor of the State Concern “Ukroboronprom” in the form of a joint-stock company will contribute to the introduction of a model of corporate governance in the field of the defense-industrial complex, in accordance with the recommendations on corporate governance of business entities of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. This will also create the prerequisites for increasing the competitiveness of enterprises of the defense-industrial complex, create conditions for attracting investments in the defense-industrial complex.
