This was announced on March 23 on the air of the national telethon by Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the OPU. Video posted on YouTube TSN .
“In the plans [разговор] There is. Both the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are organizationally involved – and [глава ОПУ Андрей] Yermak, and [министр иностранных дел Дмитрий] Kuleba… We are proactively proposing, because apart from President Zelensky, today there is practically no one to explain the consequences of the incorrect finalization of the war, because the president quite clearly places all the accents among our partners, including among neutral countries,” Podolyak said.
According to him, there are certain difficulties in organizing negotiations between Zelensky and Xi Jinping.
“There is a question that China has not yet found its new political place, a new one. That is, it wants to take over the issue of resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, or, nevertheless, it will cautiously stand aside. As I understand it, China is still for itself I didn’t find out,” Podolyak stressed.
Since the beginning of the Russian attack on Ukraine, China has been trying to maintain a neutral position and does not directly condemn Moscow’s actions.
On February 24, China unveiled an extensive 12-point plan for a peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine. This “peace plan” was greeted with skepticism in the West.
At the same time, Zelensky believes that some of the points in this document are in the interests of Ukraine, while Kyiv disagrees with some. The President of Ukraine also said that he plans to meet with Xi Jinping.
On March 13, The Wall Street Journal reported that Xi Jinping plans to speak with President Zelensky for the first time since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Sources of the publication noted that the conversation between Xi Jinping and the President of Ukraine will take place after the visit of the Chinese leader to Moscow on March 20-22.
Zelensky, speaking about a possible conversation or meeting with Xi Jinping, said on March 21 that “some signals” were received in Kyiv, “but there was no confirmation” – “no specifics yet.”
