(Chicago = Yonhap News) Kim Hyun Correspondent = After his three-year-old daughter was kidnapped, an unfortunate American man who was falsely accused of raping and murdering his daughter and was imprisoned ended his life in an unexpected car accident.

According to the US media on the 22nd (local time), Kevin Fox (46), a Chicago man who stirred up American society 20 years ago, was driving on a highway near Centerville, Arkansas on the afternoon of the 20th and was driving on a highway and was hit by a vehicle that crossed the median. died in a head-on collision.

In June 2004, while living in Will County, a suburb of Chicago, Fox had a nightmare when her three-year-old daughter, Riley, suddenly disappeared and was found dead in a creek near her home. Riley being raped and tied up with her duct tape and dumped in her creek.

To make matters worse, the prosecution indicted and imprisoned Fox on charges of murder and sexual assault of her daughter four months after the incident.

Prosecutors said Fox admitted to the crime via video.

It is said that the daughter died after hitting her head against the door of her room, and that the body was abandoned to decorate it as an abduction.

However, Fox appealed, saying, “It was a false confession due to coercive investigation and induction newspaper,” and as a result of a DNA (DNA) analysis conducted belatedly, it was proved that he was not the criminal and released after eight months.

In the end, in 2010, after six years, the prosecution arrested Scott Abbey (51), a sex offender and robbery ex-convict who lived next door to the Fox family, as a suspect and confessed to all the crimes.

Evie, who was drunk and drugged at the time, tore open the window screen to rob the Fox family’s house, found Riley asleep, and stated that she kidnapped her for the purpose of sexual harassment.

Abby also confessed, “Before Riley died, he said, ‘Take me to Daddy.'” He is serving a life sentence after being convicted.

The Chicago Tribune reported that at the time of the incident, a pair of inmate’s shoes was found near the place where Riley’s body was recovered, and Abby’s name was written on it, but the authorities overlooked it.

In addition, Fox’s attorneys argued, “At the time of the initial investigation, DNA testing and analysis were requested, but were rejected.”

Fox filed a lawsuit against Will County judicial authorities in 2007 and was awarded an 8 million dollar (approximately 10 billion won) compensation judgment.

After that, Fox moved to Arkansas, remarried, gave birth to three children, and lived while running a personal business, Chicago NBC reported.

However, he did not escape a tragic fate.

Meanwhile, Arkansas police said, “At the time of the car accident, the weather near the scene was clear and dry.”
