– The news of the death is received with great sadness at our Oslo police district, says Trude Maren Buanes.
She is the leader of the police prosecutors in the section that investigates the most serious crimes in Oslo.
It was here that Pål-Fredrik Hjort Kraby worked. The public prosecutor has been involved in some of the most serious criminal cases in Norway.
Among other things, he led the investigation into the terrorist attacks against Oslo and Utøya on 22 July. He also led the investigation after Philip Manshaus killed his sister and later attacked the Al Noor mosque in Bærum.
– Pål-Fredrik was an extremely skilled and committed police lawyer who was responsible for large, very comprehensive and demanding cases, says Buanes.
She describes him as a highly valued colleague who was genuinely concerned about the people around him, and she says he will be deeply missed.
– Our thoughts go out to those closest to him, she says.
Hjort Kraby was at work until shortly before he died on Monday, aged 58. He is survived by his wife and a grown son.
