If you are one of those who often eat processed meat or processed meat like this, be careful because eating processed meat in excess is associated with the risk of colon cancer.
Considering that food products such as processed meats are generally made by being preserved by smoking, curing, salting, or adding chemical preservatives.
Processed meats are often fried and grilled at high temperatures. The cooking process is thought to produce carcinogenic chemicals such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic aromatic amines, which promote the risk of colon cancer.
Research conducted by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) from 20 to 26 February tried to survey around 2,000 people and showed that the majority of people consumed 50 grams of processed meat a day.
The habit of eating this amount eaten regularly makes that person more at risk of colon cancer by up to 16 percent compared to people who don’t eat processed meat, reported by the Daily Star.
The global research analysis by WCRF above states that consuming processed meat can affect the occurrence of colon cancer in women by 10 percent and in men by 14.5 percent.
In fact, as disclosed Dr.Helen Croker, Head of research interpretation at the World Cancer Research Fund, 54 percent of cases of colon cancer can actually be prevented.
