This time it is still in concept status, but a serial version is promised within a few months.
A week ago, the South Korean automaker announced its latest model, the crossover EV9, but it turns out that this is not the only news prepared by the company’s engineers. Today, the media is reporting a new electric crossover, the EV5, which is about the size of the Sportage and is being called the smaller brother of the EV9.
And indeed, visually it resembles a reduced EV9, repeating the same angular body shapes and the black glazing frame that “merges” the windshield with the side windows. Here, too, narrow and long lights are used, which, however, have a different shape, as do the air intake channels.
The EV5 cabin has four individual seats, a small “flattened” steering wheel and a rectangular touch panel that controls all the car’s functions. Of the extras, only cruise control is mentioned. The manufacturer reveals that the Kia EV5 can travel up to 700 kilometers on a single charge of the battery according to China’s CLTC cycle, and the electric car can be used as an energy source – for example, to provide electricity for a small country house for a while.
The serial version of the EV5 will be shown in a couple of months, but the electric crossover will go on sale in November this year.
China will be the first market for the model, and its production will also be organized there. And since the EV5 has the status of a global model, sooner or later it will also appear in the markets of other countries.
