FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — For Anies Baswedan volunteers who are members of the National Confederation of Anies Volunteers (KoReAn), the emergence of a businessman from South Sulawesi Andi Amran Sulaiman has become a new spirit for volunteers outside Java Island.
Andi Amran Sulaiman is one of the names PKS has pushed as a potential vice presidential candidate to accompany Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election.
Chairman of the National Confederation of Anies Volunteers (KoReAn), Muhammad Ramli Rahim said, reflecting on the 2014 presidential election, when Joko Widodo paired up with Jusuf Kalla, they were able to pocket nearly 80 percent of the vote in eastern Indonesia.
Likewise, the duet of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Jusuf Kalla won the 2004 presidential election.
“We hope that there will be representation outside Java for the national leadership. As happened with SBY-JK and Jokowi-JK. In the presidential election, JK is the dominant factor,” said Ramli Rahim to Fajar.co.id, Tuesday (21/3/2023 ).
After that the 2004 and 2014 presidential elections did not appear again as a representative figure from Eastern Indonesia whose level was above Amran after Jusuf Kalla.
“Naturally, Andi Amran was encouraged, not only for representation of Eastern Indonesia, but also for representation outside Java Island. Kalimantan, including Sumatra, when Pak Amran was minister of agriculture, his contribution in Sumatra was quite large,” explained Ramli.
The former general chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Teachers Association thinks that it would be very good for Anies to have many alternative vice presidential candidates.
So that when the time came for Anies to determine who his vice presidential candidate would be, Anies could determine very well according to the three criteria previously mentioned.
