Insolvency Proceedings loom again for Jaromír Soukup’s Médea as ČT and Prima seek to recover millions.

Jaromír Soukup’s company Médea is again facing an insolvency proposal. It was submitted by Czech Television (ČT) and the company Media Club from the media group Prima, to which, according to Médea’s proposal, they owe approximately 30 million crowns for the provision of advertising space. This follows from the information that was published today in the insolvency register. The server Mediaguru.cz drew attention to it.

According to CT and Media Club, Médea is in decline. In a statement in the register, Médea described the procedure of ČT and the Media Club as bullying. Due to other advertising debts, an insolvency petition was filed at Médeu as early as mid-February. However, this proceeding was canceled in March when Médea paid the claims.

Unpaid receivables that are more than a quarter of a year old

CT in the current insolvency proposal states that Médea owes her a total of about 11.8 million crowns for orders to broadcast advertising or sponsor programs. All the mentioned receivables are at least 30 days past due, and some even more than a quarter of a year. According to the proposal, the television unsuccessfully demanded the payment of the debts already in January by filing a pre-suit challenge.

According to the proposal, Médea did not pay Media Club a total of approximately 18.1 million. As in the case of ČT, Médea did not make the payments for the orders to broadcast television advertisements. In addition, ČT and Media Club write in the insolvency proposal that Médea has outstanding claims for more than a quarter of a year past due, also against other creditors. According to CT and Media Club, Médea does not have enough money or other assets to repay the debts.

It’s bullying, defends Medea

Medea denies that she is in decline. In a filing sent to the Municipal Court in Prague, she described the bankruptcy proposal as “bullying”. According to the company, ČT and Media Club are abusing the insolvency proceedings to increase the pressure on Médea to pay the debts. However, Médea herself admitted in the filing that some debts to ČT are already more than a quarter of a year past due.
