Paris, Mar 21 (EFE) managed to put an end to the protests.

The Elysee announced on Tuesday Macron’s appearance at 1:00 p.m. local time (12:00 GMT) on the two most watched television channels, TF1 and France 2, without going into the changes that he could announce, about which rumors are circulating in recent days.

The President of the Republic meets early this morning with his Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne, and with the parliamentary leaders of the three parties that support his Government.

Then, he will have lunch with the presidents of both legislative chambers, that of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, and that of the Senate, Gérard Lacher.

At the end of the afternoon, all the parliamentarians from the parties that support the president are summoned to the Elysee.

This Monday the Borne cabinet passed two motions of censure that the opposition had presented in response to the adoption last Thursday by decree of the pension reform that plans to delay the minimum retirement age from the current 62 years to 64.

In the first of these motions of censure, only nine votes were missing to reach the 287 that would have overthrown the Executive and invalidated the reform. A part of the deputies of Los Republicanos (LR), the traditional right-wing party, distanced itself from the official line of its formation and also supported it (19 of 61).

In addition to the spontaneous demonstrations and the strikes that have been going on in some sectors for almost two weeks, the unions are organizing this Thursday the ninth day of strikes and demonstrations against the pension reform because they do not give up despite its formal adoption .

Among the different hypotheses about Macron’s possible announcements to try to get out of the serious hole that his mandate is going through less than a year after his re-election, the one that has made the most noise in recent days is a reshuffle of his government. EFE
