More than half of voters voted for the Amanat party
The Central Election Commission announced the preliminary results of early elections of deputies to the lower house of parliament – the Majilis and local elected legislative bodies – maslikhats.
According to the data:
53.9% of voters voted for the Amanat party;
for the party “Auyl” – 10.9%;
for the Respublica party – 8.59%;
for the Ak Zhol party – 8.41%;
for KNP – 6.8%;
for OSDP – 5.2%;
for the Baitak party – 2.3%;
“Against all” – 3.9%.
In total, 54.19% of Kazakhstani voters took part in the voting. This is the lowest turnout since 2004.
The winning political organization Amanat was founded in 1999 on the initiative of the country’s first president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, as the republican political party Otan. From 2006 to 2022, it was called Nur Otan. Nazarbayev himself was the chairman of this political association until January 28, 2022. After that, it was headed by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Three months later, he left the party in order, as the current head of state, to distance himself from all political organizations and movements. Then the speaker of the Mazhilis Yerlan Koshanov became its chairman.
Of the 29 deputies from single-mandate constituencies who entered the Majilis, 21 were nominated by the Amanat party. This association still remains ruling.
