Einarson from Canada rebounds after loss to United States, secures victory against Norway – Courrier Frontenac

SANDVIKEN, Sweden — Canada’s Kerri Einarson posted a win and a loss in her group stage matches on Sunday at the World Women’s Curling Championship.

Einarson lost 8-7 to American Tabitha Peterson in the morning, but then won 9-6 to Norway’s Marianne Roervik in the evening.

Peterson was able to score a point in the 10th end for the win at Goeransson Arena.

Einarson and his Manitoba team, featuring Val Sweeting, Shannon Birchard and Briane Harris, struggled against Norway, but the captain placed well off the button in the bottom of the 10th inning.

“She made a good pitch and at least we got her pitched,” Einarson observed.

Norway’s Kristin Skaslien, fourth, failed to make a double ricochet to give Canada a stolen three. Norway joined Canada in a five-team tie with a 2-1 record behind undefeated Silvana Tirinzoni of Switzerland (4-0).

“I think we got off to a better start and controlled our shots pretty well,” Sweeting said. We wasted a few attempts to steal points, but it’s going to happen, because it was tough shots.

“Overall it was a better game and Kerri threw a great rock at the end. We never gave up and we continued to take over the game.

The competition continues until March 26.
