Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the occasion of the world water daythe City of Figeac opens the doors of its drinking water production and wastewater treatment plants to the public. Guided tours are offered upon registration.

In a context of global warming, water is becoming a major issue for years to come.

The water is captured in the Célé and returned to the Célé after treatment

Where does tap water come from ? Where does she go in the sink, the shower, the toilet ? The first is taken directly from the Célé from the Prentegarde drinking water station, route d’Aurillac (inaugurated on 17 October 2022). Wastewater is received in the state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant on avenue de Ratier (commissioned at the end of 2011).

A total of eight visit slots are available on Saturday March 25 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The visits are carried out under the supervision of agents from the City’s technical services, namely Vincent Delport, for the treatment plant, and Karine Sudres, for the drinking water plant. In groups of fifteen people (max.), they will introduce the public to the premises and how the facilities work.

The approach will allow a better understanding of the different stages of the water pumped into the Célé, treated, to reach the tap for drinking, and, once used, treated again before returning to the Célé.

Visits are free, on online registration on the site www.ville-figeac.fr. The gauge is limited to fifteen people per slot, with four slots offered per factory : 9 h, 11 h, 14 h, and 16 h
