After it was denounced on social networks the death of a newborn baby in Villa Clarathe ‘Héctor Ruiz Pérez’ School of Sports Initiation (EIDE), located in the city of Santa Clara, issued a statement confirming the events that occurred within its facilities.

This statement confirmed that the baby was born in an out-of-hospital delivery, that is, it was carried out without the participation of any medical institution.

“Our sports family regrets, since yesterday, the situation that arose, with an out-of-hospital birth, of an athlete from the basketball team, our center accustomed to triumph, feels it in the depths of our ethics,” it reads. in the statement shared on Facebook.

The information shared by the EIDE indicates that the authorities have launched an investigation to determine the causes of what happened.

“Once the work of the competent bodies is finished, we will define responsibilities, that will always be our style,” the text adds.

According to the first reports, the baby was found in poor condition by school custodians, who notified the authorities. The little boy was taken to the “José Luis Miranda” Pediatric Hospital, but lost his life shortly after because he had suffered several fractures.

For her part, the Cuban activist Diasniurka Salcedo Verdecia, one of the first people to denounce the unfortunate fact, indicated that the baby’s mother was an 18-year-old student, who hid her pregnancy and gave birth with the help of another student and a school coordinator.

Users on social networks were outraged by what happened in Santa Clara, questioning how it was possible that a school did not realize that one of its students, especially one so young, was pregnant.

The EIDE authorities summoned the parents to a meeting this Sunday, March 19 at 9:00 a.m.

While the statement does not confirm it directly, it is possible that the meeting is due to the death of the newborn, since among the issues that will be discussed is the behavior of students in residences and other “issues of interest.”
