President Bashar al-Assad met today with members of the General Secretariat of the Conference of Arab Parties, which is holding its emergency meeting in Damascus.
During the meeting, a number of issues with an Arab and national dimension were discussed. President al-Assad considered that today is a favorable opportunity for the political parties and forces to move because there are real and practical models on the ground that have demonstrated the success of the besieged peoples in resisting their siege, in contrast to the idea of defeat and concession that the hostile media worked hard to insinuate. And he planted it in the hearts of the sons of our Arab society years ago, stressing that it is not required that we have one thought or one orientation, but the important thing is that we meet the final goal.
President al-Assad affirmed that a large part of the Syrian people has a spirit of challenge and a belief in the correctness of their positions, and this is the most important factor for our steadfastness, and without this spirit no country can stand steadfast no matter what support is provided to it, and that the parties express the image of society with its intellectual and political currents, and the Arab society is characterized by great diversity. Therefore, the more the conference circle expands, the better it will be able to express societies, and this requires work to expand the circle towards different currents and affiliations, and perhaps dialogue is the most important factor in achieving this.
President al-Assad stressed the importance of working on a common identity for the Arabs, without which progress will not be achieved on any cultural, economic or other level.
For his part, Qassem Salih, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Arab Parties, thanked Syria for hosting the meeting of the secretariat at this sensitive stage, and offered condolences on behalf of the members of the delegation to the President and the Syrian people for the earthquake victims, stressing the solidarity of all the conference parties with Syria in facing the repercussions of this disaster.
In turn, the members of the secretariat stressed the need to end the occupation of all Syrian lands, and to lift the unjust siege and unilateral coercive sanctions imposed on the Syrian people, stressing that they represent illegal measures that are inconsistent with international law and clear evidence of the arrogance and arrogance of American policy, considering that lifting the siege is a national mission and need Urgent humanity, especially after the catastrophe of the earthquake that the Syrian people are facing today.
The members also stressed that Syria, with its steadfastness and victory, despite all that was planned for it in terms of terrorism and destruction, made it a compass for the Arabs, and that its adherence to Arabism established it as a method for the Arab peoples and parties.
