SOLDEU – Slovak skier Petra Vlhová won the final slalom of the World Cup in Soldeu, Andorra. She thus achieved her second victory in the ongoing season and the 28th triumph in her career.
Vlhová got off to a strong start and increased her lead over Popovičová, who showed a deliberate drive in the second part and surprisingly overtook the star Shiffrin. The Slovak made a slight mistake in this section, but in the next one she kept the loss at the level of eight hundredths, managed the transition to the sharp technical part and came away with the triumph.
“Victory tastes really good. I’m really happy that I won after such a season that was like on a swing. The first round was really a struggle, I didn’t have the best feeling and I was surprised by the first place.
I realized the mistake in the second run for a moment, but I continued right away, because the track is long. I lost my balance in places, but I fought to the finish line. When I saw number one, it was indescribable.” the Slovak athlete did not hide her joy in an interview for JOJ Šport.
