The actor had to go through terrible torment.
Mikhail Pugovkin was already a movie actor when the Great Patriotic War broke out. The screen star immediately went to the front, where he was seriously wounded in the leg. Then the career of a talented artist was in the balance.
Because of the onset of gangrene, the doctor wanted to amputate Pugovkin’s leg, but then Stalin issued a directive on the need to reduce the number of amputations. Then the doctor decided to take a chance – he scraped out the wound and sewed it up, which saved the artist’s limb.
Shortly after that, the actor was offered to star in the film “Wedding”. Pugovkin did not refuse, not yet knowing that the filming of a comedy would be worse than any thriller.
The fact is that the celebrity’s leg did not fully heal, but despite this, he had to dance several takes in a row. As a true fighter and actor, Mikhail Ivanovich did not complain about his fate and unquestioningly carried out all the director’s orders. In between, he cleaned his blood-soaked boot and changed the bandages, after which he returned to the set as if nothing had happened.
