Newcastle United booked a victory in the Premier League on Friday despite a major mistake by Sven Botman. A visit to Nottingham Forest made it 1-2. In Italy, fellow Orange customer Marten de Roon scored his first goal of the season on behalf of Atalanta.
Newcastle fell behind 1-0 in the 26th minute and Botman was guilty of that. The central defender wanted to play back to his keeper, but accidentally served Emmanuel Dennis, who was able to score.
For Botman, the error is at odds with his strong debut season for Newcastle, which took him over from Lille OSC for a lot of money last summer. The former Ajax player was selected for the Orange for the second time in his career earlier on Friday.
Fortunately for Botman, Newcastle repaired the damage in the City Ground stadium, where former Eredivisie striker Alexander Isak claimed the leading role. He artistically equalized just before half-time and took care of the 1-2 from a penalty in extra time. In between, a goal from Newcastle substitute Elliot Anderson was rejected after long VAR deliberation.
Ambitious Newcastle United are still in the running for Champions League football. ‘The Magpies’ are fifth in the Premier League. The top four take a direct ticket for the ball of millions.

De Roon scores with a nice header
In Serie A, De Roon was important for Atalanta. The midfielder, who, like Botman, belongs to the Orange selection, made the 1-1 at home against Empoli in the 58th minute. The beautiful effective header meant his first goal of the season.
Atalanta had fallen behind just before half-time due to a goal from former ADO Den Haag player Tyronne Ebuehi. After De Roon’s equalizer, teammate Rasmus Højlund scored the winning 2-1 just before time.
De Roon was the only Dutchman who participated in Atalanta. Compatriots Teun Koopmeiners and Hans Hateboer were absent due to an injury. Atalanta only booked the second win in seven matches and is sixth.
