Ukraine said a decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for the arrest of the Russian president Vladimir Putin only the first step of restoring justice for the Russian invasion. Ukraine praise the decision.
“The Hague Assembly of the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin. This is just the beginning,” said Ukraine’s Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak. AFPFriday (17/3/2023).
The Prosecutor General of Ukraine praised the International Criminal Court’s decision to issue a warrant for Putin’s arrest. He said the world understands that the Putin regime is criminal.
“The world received a signal that the Russian regime is criminal and its leadership and accomplices will be held accountable,” said Ukraine’s Attorney General Andriy Kostin.
“This is a historic decision for Ukraine and the entire international legal system,” he said.
The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin is accused of being responsible for war crimes.
Reported BBC, Friday (17/3), the ICC accused Putin of being responsible for war crimes. The ICC considers the crimes to include the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.
The ICC stated The Crimes were committed in Ukraine since February 24, 2022 – when Russia launched its full-scale invasion. Moscow has denied accusations of war crimes during the invasion.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is still ongoing. Wars continued to break out in various cities in Ukraine.
The United States and its western allies continue to provide Ukraine with financial and arms support. The US et al have also imposed various sanctions on Russia.
