iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are likely to cost more when released in fall 2023. According to an analyst, this price hike is due to smartphone improvements like titanium chassis, A17 Bionic chip, etc.
iPhones are definitely not the most affordable smartphones on the market. However, they are likely to become even more expensive when the next generation is released. We do not yet know the exact price of the iPhone 15 which will be released in the fall of 2023. It is expected that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will launch at the same price as the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. Nevertheless, the two Pro models of the iPhone 15 will probably be more expensive.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a price hike for the iPhone 15 Pro. Earlier this year, a Chinese source claimed that the Pro models of the iPhone 15 would be more expensive than their predecessors. Analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities reiterated that indeed we should expect a price increase.
It would be the first price increase since the iPhone X in the United States
Jeff Pu said that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. As a reminder, the iPhone 14 Pro is sold from €1,329 against €1,479 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Should we therefore expect an increase of €100 or more? Jeff Pu didn’t give a more specific price figure for the iPhone 15 Pro.
The analyst specified that this price increase would be due to the improvements of the Pro models. This includes the titanium chassis, buttons with haptic feedback, the A17 Bionic chip and RAM. Don’t forget the periscope lens either the optical zoom of the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra). Moreover, the A17 Bionic chip will allow the iPhone 15 Pro to be as powerful as a MacBook M1.
The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max price hike would apply worldwide. With our neighbors across the Atlantic, it would be the first time the Apple smartphone has risen in price since the iPhone X in 2017. In Europe, we’re used to seeing more expensive iPhones year on year or so. The iPhone 13 Pro was marketed from €1,159, for example.
